AWWP is pleased to announce its blue macaw breeding results for 2010.

The Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation is pleased to announce its blue macaw breeding results for 2010. In total we successfully bred 6 Spix’s Macaws (Cyanopsitta spixii) (1 male, 5 females) and 2 Lear’s Macaws (Anodorhynchus leari) (2 females). Two of the Spix’s Macaw offspring are the first in the international breeding program to be bred from a second generation parent (mother). The breeding of these 2 offspring is important for another reason to; their 36 year old father is one of only a few remaining wild founders and not only is he genetically important and the oldest Spix’s Macaw to ever reproduce, he is also the oldest Spix’s Macaw ever recorded! With the addition of AWWP’s 6 offspring and 1 female bred by the Loro Parque Foundation earlier this year, the studbook managed population now stands at 73 (29 males, 44 females), 56 (22 males, 34 females) of which are held at AWWP.

8 Blaue Babies

Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation(AWWP) ist hocherfreut den Zuchterfolg seiner blauen Aras für 2010 bekannzugeben. Insgesamt wurden erfolgreich 6 Spix’s Aras (Cyanopsitta spixii) (1 männlich, 5 weiblich) und 2 weibliche Lear’s Aras (Anodorhynchus leari) nachgezogen. Im Internationalen Zuchtprogramm representieren zwei der Spix Ara Küken den ersten Nachwuchs eines Elternteils (Mutter) aus der zweiten Generation. Die Zucht dieser 2 Nachkommen ist auch aus einem weiteren Grund erwähnenswert; ihr 36 jähriger Vater ist einer der wenigen wilden noch lebenden Gründertiere, was ihn genetisch äußerst wichtig macht. Er ist außerdem der älteste Spix Ara der sich jemals fortgepflanzt hat und darüber hinaus auch der älteste Representant seiner Art. Mit den 6 in AWWP nachgezüchteten Küken und einem Weibchen welches in der Loro Parque Foundation Anfang des Jahres geboren wurde, umfasst die durch das Zuchtbuch koordinierte Population derzeit 73 (29 männliche, 44 weibliche) Vögel. 56 davon (22.34) werden in AWWP gehalten.

8 Filhotes Azuis

A Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation tem o prazer de anunciar os resultados da temporada reprodutiva de 2010. Nós reproduzimos com sucesso seis filhotes de ararinha azul Cyanopsitta spixii, 1 macho e 5 fêmeas, e duas araras azuis de Lear Anodorhynchus leari, 2 fêmeas. Dois dos filhotes de ararinha azul são os primeiros indivíduos reproduzidos por uma ave da segunda geração da espécie, a mãe, registrados no Programa Internacional para Reprodução. Este sucesso é importante por outra razão, o pai destes filhotes, um macho de 36 anos, é uma das poucas aves no programa proveniente da natureza, ele não é apenas importante pelo seu material genético e por ser a ararinha azul mais velha a se reproduzir, ele é na verdade a ave mais velha registrada no programa! Com a adição destes seis flhotes da AWWP e uma fêmea, reproduzida no início deste ano na Fundação Loro Parque, o livro de estudos genealógicos para o manejo da espécie (Studbook) conta agora com 73 aves registradas, sendo 29 machos e 44 fêmeas, onde 56 (22 machos e 34 fêmeas) destas aves estão na AWWP.
